Job Description

DRA Water is looking for qualified local individual for their project based on the Tweefontein Water Treatment Plant in Ogies, Mpumalanga. This position is based on a Project Based Fixed Term Contract.


PURPOSE
Responsible for continuously monitoring all process parameters to ensure the safe and effective operation of the water treatment plant according to operating procedures and standards. Supervision of shift staff, operation of the SCADA system, Plant waldowns and inspections and daily log-sheet generation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Expertise

  • Controls and monitors all process equipment through information received from SCADA System, Laboratory results and plant walkdowns.
  • Acts promptly on process defects as indicated by the SCADA system and plant walk-downs.
  • Ensure shift inspections and operations are carried out consistently and effectively.
  • Ensures long term health of plant, equipment and membranes by taking appropriate actions to abnormal conditions.

Quality Management
  • Ensure all relevant analyses are conducted in line with the quality standards and on schedule.
  • Monitors and records process parameters such as flows, pressures, levels, and temperatures to ensure effective operation.
  • Interacts and communicates with all Process and Engineering staff to get defects resolved timeously.
  • Completes production log-sheets.

Communications
  • Coordinates process operators and attendants on the shift to act promptly on process defects.
  • Train all staff on plant related procedures, instructions and alarm response plans.
  • Report all HSE events in accordance with the project HSE reporting procedure.
HSE
  • Actively engage and communicate with the site teams and discipline supervisors at their work place.
  • Encourage a positive and constructive morale and atmosphere across the site.
  • Ensure that all the shift staff are carrying out their designated tasks safely and that daily inspections are being carried out.
  • Nurture an actively caring culture on the project.
  • Monitor and provide guidance to all DRA and contractors employees on HSE matters.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Matric (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification registered at NQF Level 4, including relevant NATED courses (e.g., N3 Certificate), with a pass Mathematics and Science
  • Must be willing to register as a Class IV Process Controller
  • Driver’s License for manual vehicle an added advantage

EXPERIENCE
  • At least 3 years’ demonstrated experience and knowledge as a Process Operator
  • At least 1 year SCADA system experience
